The first day back was just fine. The kids seemed pleased to see me and each other.
I showed the 4th hour class the giant stack of papers I graded on my vacation. "I graded this many papers," I said. "Isn't that good? I worked hard on them, and now I'd like some praise and encouragement."
The class went ahead and applauded and cheered. That felt good.

I like that attitude. Keep it up. That should be one of your professional goals. Continue to help the children appreciate you.
