Best Run Ever

I ran 18 miles today - my last long run in preparation for my next marathon on June 6th. It was a gorgeous day, and half the city was out walking or running, either alone or with their babies or dogs or pals.

During my run, I listened to two extremely awesome episodes of This American Life. One of them featured not only Ira Glass, but also Joss Whedon, Neil Patrick Harris, and Dan Savage. Dan's story was so moving and so well-told that I actually had to stop for a few seconds to cry alongside the running path. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that crying and running don't mix.

I cried so hard when I first heard that Savage Story.
Then i told the story to my family and started crying again! So last week when it was on, I didn't listen. I knew I couldn't handle it.

I think you're awesome in the running dept. and in all other depts. as well.

This same thing happened to me - I cried when repeating the story to Dan. It's a really sad and touching story, and it made me really like Dan Savage. I already liked him, but it made me like him more.

Way to go on the running! I tried running for a couple years then just resorted to cycling because I had some ankle issues.
I never really listened to Dan Savage all that much, but after looking him up, I have to say I like him a lot; who knew there could be so much depth in such a funny guy?

I love listening to TAL while jogging!!! :) I think the same can be said about laughing..."The Law Concerning Food and Drink" was difficult to listen to while I ran; I laughed so hard.

Podcasts are the best for jogs, I agree. I usually start with a podcast or two and then switch to music when I'm getting very tired.

M.A. - do you also listen to the Savage Love Podcast? It can be so shocking, but it really is entertaining.
