Little Brother

Last weekend, the kids and I went up north to spend some time with my family. We had a fantastic time boating, floating, swinging, and chilling. At the end of a long day, I asked Mac to pose for a photo for Dan. Here's what he did:

He's the master of the sad face, right? He's really good at that. It reflects a general feeling he's having lately. A feeling of indignation about being littler than Shef.

That is a seriously impressive sadface. Mad props to Mac.

I remember that feeling as the youngest of four! They all got to do really interesting things and I did not and by the time I got to do them...the interesting things were somewhat old hat and really not as cool. Then as I got older, I really appreciated having them as trail blazers as my parents were much more relaxed and casual with me. Don't know if I could do such a great sad face....good job Mac! nana

Oh for heaven's sake. No wonder you let this child sleep in your bed. Or you sleep in his bed. How is that all going, by the way?

I think I was about this age when my parents got me the book "I'll Fix Anthony" -- probably not the best message for a child's picture book but it was one of my favorites. It is all about how this kid will "fix" Anthony by being better than him at just about everything... when he is six.
