Saturday in July

Okay, it's not July. Actually, it's not even above zero degrees fahrenheit. However, I have finished administering final exams.

There's some grading to contend with, but I think I can handle it. And then, semester two starts on Tuesday.

The highlight of the week for me was lunch out on Wednesday with two teaching pals, Jackie and Kari. I had a hard time eating my sub because my thumb has split open due to the dry, dry air.

"I know what you need," Jackie said firmly. "You need crack care."

"What?" I said, thinking I hadn't heard correctly.

"Crack Care," she said. "I know it sounds bad, but you paint it on there..."

"And glue your crack together," Kari explained.

Things only got worse from there, to tell you the truth. English teachers love a good double entendre.

Hee hee hee!

With this and the last post--not to mention that photo--you are on a roll!

(BTW if I had seen that pic of you elsewhere, I may not have even recognized you.)

I hope I am still going to see you in Madison in a month. What are you presenting?

Oh KC, I feel for you. I have a crack on the tip of my thumb, too, the third this winter. You just wouldn't think it, but it's pretty excruciating, isn't it?

Why don't you just put a bunch of neosporin on the crack and then wear a big gauze bandage wrapped (many times) around your hand? Please do not leave the crack unattended. YOu could get staph in the crack! I'm not kidding.

Hey pals! Jill, I'll be in Madison, but I'm not presenting. What's your talk? I want to hear it!!

Anne, the cracks are terrible, and, I want to see you and your kiddos.

Lh, I've been doing bandanas, but they continually fall off. Thx for the advice tho. The crack is dangerous!

Bandaids!

You probably aren't looking for practical advice, but Tom has that exact same problem. He used to use crack care but now he uses super glue. I am not kidding. Plus you are way more bad ass if you glue your crack together with super glue than with crack care.

I have used crack care. It makes it look gross but I'm tellin' ya it does work.
