June Challenge

@DailyRos posed an every-Wednesday challenge for June. We're supposed to write about films and related topics. Good challenge, Ros! I'm excited to participate! Today I'm writing about Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Shef was dying to see this third installment of the Harry Potter series, but I was worried about some scary parts with tall-hooded creatures that suck your soul out through your mouth plus then a werewolf.

Finally, I decided he could watch it when he'd finished reading the book with good comprehension, as determined by an oral quiz administered by me. I thought it would take him awhile to accomplish this, but I was wrong and he's now watched the movie twice. Then, two weeks later he finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. That one is even more scary with some death and self-amputation.

As it is, Mac has seen Harry Potter three as well, even though it's majorly inappropriate for his age group. That's just what happens with the much-younger sibling, I guess. There's not much I can do.

When we were young I would hold one hand over Quinn's eyes during scary parts and say stuff like, don't worry, it's just a movie!

He found it to be a pretty annoying way of dealing with my own fears, especially since he was not afraid of much.

My youngest brother was subjected to a lot of inappropriate things as the youngest of four. Somehow, he turned out to just be really mature and extremely witty. I bet Mac will be the same way.

Also, this post has given me an idea of a blog I'll write, so THANKS!

Q loved to watch Snow White when he was Mac's age. He would watch it 3 or 4 times a day. (That's great parenting!) But he always called for me to come and hold his hand when the scene where the wicked witch leered from the mirror.

The younger sib in our house did watch a lot of inappropriate tv and film.

I think it would be fun to watch the Potters at home with kids.
