Had the Radio On

Finally after months and months of loneliness and despair on my part, my sister will be home in 27 days. I cannot adequately express my relief and happiness about this fact.

My immense relief and happiness survived even her very first homecoming request: she wants us to get pedicures together.

My birth mother (her mother) communicated this desire to me, and I mustered as much enthusiasm as possible.

"I'll totally do that," I said, gamely.

"Won't it be fun?" Martha asked, excited.

"Well," I continued, "you know I don't currently have any toenails."

That wasn't quite true. I do, at this moment, have 5.5 toenails of the usual 10.

Still, it's probably going to be the best homecoming ever.

I think you'll like it. Remember how excited you got when you had to wait an extra 30 minutes at the gyno's office? This will be even way better than that.

Where are your toenails?

They fell off after the marathon. It's pretty gross.

AHHHH I agree so much with your excitement for Mare!! And, I can apparently relate to what your feet look like.

The last time I got a pedi, the nice Asian man doing my nails asked, "Are you a runner?"

"Umm, well I run occasionally, but I would never say I was a runner."

He says, "Oh. I would think you were a runner by looking at your feet."

Silence. Shame. Good luck with the 5.5 nails!

Where are you going for the pedi's? Even without toenails, I bet you'd have a great time at Red Nails. Forget getting any color, just ask them to massage those running calfs for an extra long time!
