Love/Hate

Mac does his own thing.  It's really hard to get him to do what you want him to do if it's not already what he wants to do.

And just because he USED to want to do the thing a month ago when you paid for it, that does NOT mean he wants to do it now.  He might never want to do it again, actually, or he might want to do it in an hour.  You just can't tell.

So, you can imagine this child as a Suzuki violinist.

Some of the time, it's a complete and utter nightmare.  Yesterday, I reminded him that he'd promised to practice upon arrival at our home after soccer.

"I hate violin," he said.

"I hear you," I said.  "But, you're also really good at violin."

"I'm good at hating it," he continued.

"Yeah," I said.

"I love to hate it," he smiled.

I think he loves to hate everything.  I'm not sure what that means.

I was pretty bad at getting kids to practice instruments.

I think Mac is very funny.

Love the "love to hate" comment--with smile on face. Keep it up. He is a great fiddler too!!! Maybe you can "camp" at the MBOTMA Featival!

I think this means "welcome to being six"? That's what I'm telling myself it means in our household.
