A Big Announcement

I've decided something: I'm pretty sure I am ready to commit to running a marathon in 2011. So this is my announcement: my sister Mary and I will be running Minneapolis Marathon on June 5, 2011.

In honor of this announcement, I've created a Pummelvision with a sports theme. I chose pix related to sporting events from my iPhoto library. (YES, labor and delivery counts as a serious sporting event, but don't worry - I didn't allow action shots). I chose 381 photos, but with my free Flickr account, I was only allowed 200. Oh well.

Mary wants to run a sub-4 marathon. This will be a tall order. My first marathon in 2001 was a 4:03, and since then I've run as fast as 3:40 and as slow(er) as 4:57. I'm proud of them all.

BUT, because Mary wants to go sub-4, I'm pledging to train a bit harder. 3-4 times per week instead of 2-3. We'll see if this makes a difference.

Wow - we are a totally athletic family! Good luck in the marathon. Shef, Mac and I will be there to cheer you on, as always.

i thought we were doing the TC mara in the fall and a tri in the summer- you know to show how diversely athletic we are.

I thought we talked about how we would do the marathon and then be in really good shape for the tri? I think that would be better!! But, TC is more fun and festive as a marathon, so if you want to do that... but it's at a really bad time for me, as it's about 6 weeks after school starts.

Um, running the ONE marathon shows really good shape and athletic. Anyway, good luck with it. Cool video.

FYI: I did in fact run a marathon once. My time was officially 4:12, but it took me 15 minutes to get to the starting line (it was back in the day before electronic scoring). I think finishing a marathon is an incredible endeavor, especially if you're anywhere near four hours. Your athleticism humbles me.
