Shef reads tons of books every week. And of course this pleases me immensely. His latest series is Wimpy Kid, which seems like it might not be appropriate for first grade? But here's an important lesson I learned from my mother: censoring literature is a bad idea. That's why she let me read Clan of the Cave Bear when I was ten.

It's nice that he's so into reading. Even if he's always reaching for older-kid stuff.
I read the first book in this series to my third graders.

Censored books are the best ones to read in my experience.
Had she read Clan of the Cave Bear? Boy that one was steamy? I agree. Don't censor. Unless you start finding certain magazines under his bed ... I even put my foot down on Maxim!
