One Marred By A Scar

My book club met with Caragh O'Brien tonight, author of Birthmarked. I really wished I'd finished the book before the meeting. Instead, I'm only about half way through her great story, a fact I confessed to her immediately.

Luckily, Caragh is an English teacher herself (English 9, English 11, and Broadcast Journalism), so she totally understood my reading-time dilemma.

She also didn't seem to mind when we asked her millions of questions about her writing process and getting the book published and writing the sequels and other dystopic fiction. She also seemed fine with my request for a photo and the whole literacy challenge blog aspect of my needs. She even wished me luck in the blogging challenge in the inscription she signed in my book. Now I feel destined for success.

How exciting to meet the author! And way to go not being afraid to ask for a pic :)

My 4th grade class got to talk to Madeleine L'Engle on the phone and I totally did not appreciate how big a deal that was.

I love meeting authors. We had Will Hobbs come to our school this year.

This was really exciting, and even better: I truly love this book! I am reading it every night.

I love both Hobbs and L'Engle. I haven't met too many authors, but I did really enjoy meeting this one.

Today I met Alexander Bernstein and I wanted to ask him to take a pic with me for the blog, but I never got the chance. This book sounds good.

I have not met anybody famous lately and am jealous that during a literacy blogging contest you got to meet an author whose work you probably liked.

My turn finally came at the library and I stayed up until 2:30 reading Birthmarked last night. Thanks for the great read!
